A very old Black and White transparency, with some minor fungus and scratches.
In this digital era, I could make the fence disappear,
but for this image, I wanted the original full size. .

This is a significant image for me. It was my first attempt at processing black
and white positive transparencies. It was also one of my first attempts at zone
exposures - all of this with my excellent Hanimex C35 Rangefinder manual
camera (Hanimar 45mm f2.8) and a handheld Hanimex Selenium Cell Light Meter. hide exif

I have shot tons of film...I have never shot B&W transparencies however. Interesting look, kinda reminds me of digital which follows due to the curtailed dynamic range.. One thing that keeps me coming back to your pages Colin...aside of course from the spectacular images, I LOVE the stories.

Colin, I am in awe when I hear film photographers like you talk about darkroom techniques and things like "zone exposures." Somehow it feels more authentic than my "digital darkroom"--ie., Photoshop--where nothing is hands-on. This is a beautiful B&W photo, and, personally, I like the fence left in.
