September Reading

Maybe not everyone's "cup of tea", but there is at least one book you should read in this set. :-)

The books are The Black Hole War by Susskind; David Bailey by Higgins; and the MUST READ, The Ongoing Moment by Geoff Dyer.

'The Ongoing Moment'
provides some great insights into the way pictures have
been made (often of the same thing) over a century or so. Winner of an International
Center of Photography award, Geoff Dyer has provided an easy to read and highly
original narrative. After reading this book, you will want to make some images,
and you will be very conscious that perhaps you are following in the style of
someone else from the past! It is soft cover, and also available on Kindle.

The others: 'Black Hole' is a "guided tour of theoretical physics" (says LA Times).
'Bailey' is a small Phaidon monograph of excellent quality with many Bailey photographs.

:-))) All the books are 'on sale'. :-)))

Leica D-Lux 2

other sizes: small medium large original auto

Love the image Colin and I haven't thought of David Bailey for several decades, although I would probably opt for that book. Nice concept. V

Cheers, Colin, for the tip.
Nice shot, by the way (very cool specs too).

Or you might be able to get them from your local library, I do that sometimes to see if I want to own a book. There is no way I could buy every book I read or at least store them. LOL These all sound so interesting and helpful. Thank you so much for sharing this information, Colin!

I borrowed "The Ongoing Moment" from the library a couple of years ago and enjoyed it immensely. This summer I ordered a copy from Amazon and I'm looking forward to reading it again. Dyer is a very good writer and as Colin says, the book has a unique and original perspective. Interestingly, Dyer is not a photographer himself but has a very highly developed (...sorry folks) appreciation of photographic art. I strongly second Colin's recommendation!

Looks like a good brain exercise.
