Breakwater

West Ashley, Charleston SC

I took the 'new' Agfa folding camera for a walk at lunch today, with a
roll of BW C41 film. I'm happy with the performance of this 50 year old
camera. Contrast is nice, and the lens is sharp enough. A little problem
with the negative frame 'squareness' which I will sort out. Otherwise, OK. :-)

The camera is HERE

Agfa Isolette V, Agnar f4.5/80, Kodak BW400CN

Tech Note:
This 'Breakwater' is not such a great image - too much going on,
and harsh light into a low sun. However, there is one notable achievement.
On the far horizon by the house, you can easily see a very tall radio station
mast. This is at least a half mile away, and is quite narrow - about a 10
feet (3m) triangle design. The DOF this old lens can achieve, even if soft,
is quite impressive. Settings: f22 @ 1/200 focus set at 30'. full exif

other sizes: small medium large original auto

I liked your "tech note" Colin. Agree, very good DOF. It is amazing what you can squeese out of your cameraes. I remember somewhere in your galleries you have an image that is close to medium format in dynamic range and details. I really like to see the images you get from these oldies. And of course it is not a bad thing that you have the skills and experience and know how to handle a camera. :-)

Considering the difficult light conditions this has come out extremely well. :) Keep them coming! :)
