The 1972 Porsche 914-6 cars were built at the factory along side the 914-4 and modified were necessary to convert each to the 914-6 model.
The 1970-71 model Porsche 914-6 steering column, engine wiring harness, etc., are among some of the items that did not find their way onto the later 1972 factory 914-6 cars. Fewer than 300 of these 1972 Porsche 914-6 cars were produced.
