A New York Minute



The Empire State...a land for all seasons.

I am surprised by the countless times I'm met with bewilderment that New York is so much more than the huge metropolis that encompasses Manhattan. Here can be found a vast land of natural beauty that stretches from the majesty of Niagara Falls, through miles of vineyards in the Finger Lakes, to the Adirondack and Catskill Mountain ranges. Hundreds of miles of shoreline on great Lake Ontario and Erie; numerous and notable lakes, ponds, streams, and rivers rich with history, natural and otherwise. Lake Placid, Lake George, Lake Champlain; the Hudson River, the Erie Canal, the mighty Niagara and St. Lawrence, the legendary trout-filled Esopus and Beaver Kill Creek...New York is so much more than the greatest city on earth! Come visit some of it's Upstate beauty.

oh my god, i live in jack's reef (outside jordan, NY) and i think these pictures are very breathtaking! i have been to most of these places (where the pics are) and i have never seen them from such an outstanding point of view!

These are some really wonderful shots,. You are so right. So many people think NY is all pavement and buildings. I work in the city and live 60 miles north of it. We have some of the most stunning "rural" vistas. I have several galleries with images from Orange County to prove the point. I also love your end of the state, having spent quite a bit of time up there over the years. Few states have the diversity and breath of environments we enjoy here. Thanks for documenting it so well.
