BETTER LIGHTS THAN MY BATHROOM FOR SELF PORTRAIT

MIDDLESBORO KENTUCKY

Holiday Inn Express on 25E in Middlesboro, Kentucky.
This is the town where I was born.
I'm pretty sure they put me on the top floor so I
would be away from all the riff-raff. That's what
the desk clerk said, anyway, and she never lied to
me, before.
I just woke up and it's raining. I'm already bored.
This is where Daniel Boone made his way and brought settlers.
His museum around the corner. Not sure how much he makes off it.
This place has become a tourist trap. What it offers is
The Cumberland Gap National Park.
That sits between Ky, Tenn. and Va.
While here, I got so bored I installed the
towel rack I made in 10th grade shop class.
Think I'll just go running now.
Disappointing to see my hometown turned into
just another Moab.
If I do go berserk will someone post bail?

Larry, I thought dry counties in Kentucky was a theory?
1moremile23-Apr-2008 16:36
I tried, Gary. I tried.
Gary Winters09-Apr-2008 01:45
Looks like you already stole the robe and packed it in your suitcase...
1moremile08-Apr-2008 21:54
I didn't see either kind, Steve. Kentucky has a lot of dry counties and Bell is one of them.
I'm actually glad I didn't see any of the 4 legged kind. I'm getting too old to outrun them anymore. The rheumatiz and all.
Guest 08-Apr-2008 20:00
Larry, did you see a bar'--the 4-legged kind?

Gee, I didn't know Moab was a city and, even more to the point, that it had a "legal department." Don't pay any attention to Dave. He's always threatening suits though I've never seen him wear one.

A unique style of SP Larry.
I have never seen one like it before.
Who was Daniel Boone, a friend of yours ?.
Lee G02-Apr-2008 22:38
Is this the best room service could do? You'd think the help could keep the riftraff outta your bathroom.. Motel Moab wouldn't rent a room to this guy.

:o)

Ha. Dave, if the city of Moab tries legal action I will have no choice but to send my attorneys.

You do look bored, Larry.
But nevertheless a wonderful SP.
Dave Beedon01-Apr-2008 08:04
The legal department of the City of Moab will be in touch...

I live to the north of the Providence Gap, but south of all Boston area Gaps. I don't think I owe anything to any Gaps, I hardly ever shop there and don't ever recall being in Cumberland. But if anyone asks, I moved to Moab, ok??
Soenda01-Apr-2008 00:48
On the other hand, the area's history that deserves recognition. All of us to the west of Cumberland Gap owe something to the people who dared to pass through.

I like your traveler's SP. The angle conveys the unsettledness that always hits me when I travel...can't quite get my sea legs under me. And the way you seem to be hesitantly looking up suggests that you expect the ceiling to start dripping any moment. I hope that didn't happen---Yikes!

Well, at least you can probably still get a good deal on a coonskin hat.

I wouldn't mind visiting Moab, though.
Guest 31-Mar-2008 23:22
LOL, you could have at least smiled. You know, I think I've been to that Daniel Boone Museum on the way to see my grandparents in Iowa. Small world (again)!
Cindi Smith31-Mar-2008 23:07
So, you gonna shower to get all that yucky stuff off of you? LOL at Tricia!
Dave Beedon31-Mar-2008 22:59
I smell a slander on my favorite city in Utah! It's good to see the Man from Saint Clair Shores---we don't get to see him often enough. The floor must have been very interesting. A trip to Moab will cure any case of boredom.
Tricia31-Mar-2008 22:30
Do you always shower with your clothes on? ;) Try not to get too bored!
