Daucus carota (Queen Anne's Lace) is a biennial introduced to the US from Europe. It can be found throughout most of the US. The showy 3"-5" umbel with white flowers (all but the one central purple flower) can be found on roadsides, dry fields and waste spaces. They usually grow to 4' or 5' with a stout taproot which is sweet in flavor. The cultivated carrot was derived from this species.
