Appressed hairy stemmed short perennial found in open areas
and dry woods (in this case a limestone rich cedar grove)
throughout much of Tennessee. The glossy yellow flowers
with about 1/2" petals rest at the terminal ends of stems
with mostly basal leaves anchoring the other end. Normally
found in bloom April and May. These were earlier likely
from the extreme warm stretch of weather and the fact that
the woods were recently opened nearby by a new driveway.
