A Hard Week…
Last Thursday Aiden started Consolidation. This included 11 hours in Clinic, 4 different types of chemo treatments and the news that WE would be administering his chemo throughout the weekend at home. It's been emotionally draining on all of us. The treatment we administer Friday, Saturday and Sunday is extremely hard on him. We spent all three nights in the emergency room with fevers and he's started to experience some of the side effects.
Clinic this Thursday was not as long and consuming. His counts have definitely dropped, and will continue to do so as he receives these treatments. We will administer his chemo this afternoon and the waiting/watching begins. Should he get fevers at any point, we will be instructed to go back to the emergency room where they will look at his counts and administer antibiotics in case there is an infection. We were fortunate last weekend, his blood cultures never identified a problem.
Today (Friday) he's had his first visitors since Consolidation began. The weekend was so difficult and he felt so bad, it wasn't an option. But visitors sure do lift his spirits and ours. We are being extremely cautious, it's all we can do. We will keep everyone posted should he be well enough to invite others into our home.
Tomorrow will be a difficult day for all of us. Ashlynn is going back to UTC for her Sophomore year. We have encouraged her to go, although it will be hard. Our lives have changed, but want to help keep hers moving forward and normal when possible. Due to the circumstance, we will not be making the trip. Her dear friend will ensure she gets there and moved in, thank you Christian. With the help from others, she'll come home to see us each weekend. Aiden looks to her for smiles, so we will count the days until she's back each week.
A special thank you to our employers (QHR and Hutton Hotel). They have both been extremely compassionate and made major adjustments around our schedules. It's impossible to leave him when he needs us the most, so we are so grateful to have the support from those we work with.
Remember, Monday from 8:00-6:00 the Bone Marrow Drive in Aiden's honor will be held at QHR in Brentwood. Please, help us find Aiden a donor…Be The Match!
Our hearts are overwhelmed by your kindness. Thank you for your continued support, we are blessed because of you.
For now please keep praying!
