This was taken on my first trip to a war zone. The long hair on the guy on the right reminds me of something my dad said about being a surgeon in WW2. American soldiers kept their hair cut short. But the Germans had long hair. When German soldiers were brought in for surgery head wounds were a real problem because of the mess made by blood and hair. "Soldiers should have their heads almost shaved, for the sake of the doctors," said my dad. Check out my father's photos from WW2 in the last page of this gallery.
