Toe clips and straps

PIR, Delta Park, Portland

Looking at this photo makes me wonder if we're better off with this plethora of modern pedal systems. I've been trying to sort out which pedals I want to use (I've got 10 bikes) and so far the only ones I'm happy with are the "rat-trap" touring pedals without toeclips or straps. I bought them from Rivendell for $35....I go to the bike races here in Alaska and there's no unanimity of pedal. I think the market is ripe for a really good solution. Rowers expoxy comfy shoes onto the footboards of racing shells. Maybe I'll do the same with a bike and see how that works.

Yikes… I still have my 40 year old Bell white giant shell helmet hanging up in the bike barn. First safe alternative to our leather hairnets :)
PS I split my time equally between SPDs and toeclipped vintage Dettos

The helmets look as if inspired from Star Wars , I would have painted mine black

That's me behind Del. I'm sure Glen was either WAY out in front or at the OTC in Colorado at the time. It was great to see Del still racing hard out at Barton this past weekend.
