29th October

The last day of british summertime and it's rained all day!
(dont forget to put your clocks back an hour tonight!)

I spent the morning cleaning rubbish off the beach at Scalpsie with Beachwatch,
There was a time when 3 or 4 Volunteer Beach Cleans were required a year (at various beaches of course)
but today's was the first and last of this year,
the beaches have been so clean this year that a Volunteer Clean wasn't required.

Even though it was pouring with rain we got a decent turnout
and we managed to take 20-something bags of rubbish off the beach.

Have a look at My Beachwatch Gallery
and of course the Beachwatch website: www.isle-of-bute.org.uk/bwb
There's a stats list on the BWB website that tells you
what was took off the beaches during the time i worked with them.
(the surf board is still hanging about, the dump wont take it heheh)

(some of the pics i took today in the BW gallery are 'rain damaged') :-(

Never seen such a clean tractor. I was looking forward to seeing some red swimsuits on beachwatch gallery :-(

Like Baywatch, well sort of, well perhaps no :)

The stats are amazing. It's hard to understand why people would drive their rubbish to the beach rather than to the tip?! Lucky there are people like you around to sort it out.

A bit more modern looking vehicle that I've shot for my galleries ;-)

I thought it was a mirror at first but seeing as there is blue sky on the sign I now realise it can't have been.

I thought it was one of those fancy reflectors from the thumb. Cool tractor.

The surfboard probably belongs to that little old lady from a few months back :>)
Good to see community spirit is alive & well. You know it was Australian yachtsman, Ian Kiernan who's idea of a 'Clean up Australia Day' burst onto the world forum after great success here & created the world clean up days !!

Nice of you to volunteer

the sign?
that was put there when we went down to the beach incase anyone who arrived late thought we hadn't turned up, its an old sign, most of it has faded

Well Zak seems the tractor has lost it's wing mirrors.

Good for you to give your time that way.
What is that reflective thing in the bottom center? It looks like it was just dropped in there.
