I remember Miss Funnel, she was my primary 3? teacher as far as I recall, very pleasant and warm unlike the next two years of teachers who will remain nameless. This would have been around the mid fifties, it was when the Academy was using the High Street premises due to the fire and the rebuilding of the new Academy.

I well recall my first day there in September 1943. Abandoned to the tender mercies of the Infant Mistress,Miss Funnel and the less tender mercies of Annie D. B. MacCrone, the Head of the Infant Department.

It was a solid building in its day, I'm sure it could have lasted many more years had it been renovated some years ago. I too had a mix of happy and unhappy years there. It was certainly a school with a stunning view of the bay, being up so high on the hill.
