Seems like an awful lot of bother to plant trees. Last time I saw someone doing it, they just dug an L shaped slit in the ground and stuck the saplings in and they grew.

Allegedley £100k to spruce up the gardens in Montague Street (click on the embedded link 'Buteman Article' under the main picture). It's great money is available for upkeep but is that good use of funds for one small area?
