Hi,
Wonderful photos! I should have left my camera at home!
This is a 1947 Super Deluxe. We have owned it since 1991. Originally it came from a farm in Pennsylvania..brought to NYC by a member of the Hilton hotel family and amazingly stored in a garage through the sixties and early seventies...five blocks from where I grew up!
Brought to Cali in 1976, sold to a SD attorney in 1977..He sold it to Wes Alplanalp in 1991 and some weeks later we bought it as he decided not to hot rod.it as we recall.
Originally Monsoon MAroon, the Hilton owner sprayed it black as he was a Model T nut..go figure..was all original save for the paint until 1999 when it was hit on the Coronado bridge by a SUV....
Ron Heiden of Heiden Woodworks in Encinitas tore the car down in 1999 and spent a year fabricating the destroyed drivers door and replacing the cowl and dash.....and rebuilding it..wonder who has the refinished original dash and cowl?
Ron is one of the piers upon which the Woodie world rests. He and then other folks in SanDeigo Woodies have done a tremendous job carrying on the premier event of Woodiedom, Wavecrest...and keeping it closer to its origins than we all thought possible.
We live now in Pine Valley high up in the Cleveland National Forest..but a quick forty mile ride to the Wavecrest of some of the greatest folks in the Woodie world.
Thanks to all...........Story Vogel and Judi Kelly
