| July 21st | It's been over a year since I last really updated anything here. Blame graduate school and a lot more going on in my life besides. I've uploaded a few pictures taken over the past half-year or so to the Japanese Castles page, namely Gujō Hachiman-jō, Tahara-jō, Takayama-jō, Toyama-jō, Takada-jō, and Takashima-jō. I've also replaced the old pictures for Edo-jō, Kakegawa-jō, Hamamatsu-jō, Yoshida-jō, Okazaki-jō, Nishio-jō, Ōgaki-jō, Nagahama-jō and Hikone-jō with more recent and - in my opinion - better photos taken with the 50D. There are quite a few other pictures waiting to be uploaded to other galleries. The only matter is finding the time to actually put them up here..... |

| June 16th | I've just uploaded pictures from this year's Golden Week trip to Taiwan in May, namely shots from Taipei, Danshui, Changhua, Lugang and Tainan. Along with those, I've also put up photos from a short trip to Thailand last December, including Bangkok, Ayutthaya and Ko Samui. |
| June 6th | It's been about six months since I last updated anything here. I've been trying to cut back on the number of photos on this site, so until today the only thing I'd done on PBase was edit and trim my galleries. There's been a bit of traveling done since last December though, so the Japanese Castles page has seen some updating. Newly added are Minakuchi-jō, Tatsuno-jō, Takeda-jō, Akō-jō, Kishiwada-jō, Kuwana-jō and Matsusaka-jō, and the photos for Ōsaka-jō and Nagoya-jō have been replaced with newer (and better) ones. There will be more shots from other destinations coming in the near future. |

| December 17th | New pictures from Kyōto and the outskirts of Nara have been uploaded, focusing on the autumn foliage. The gallery for the Meiji-Mura Museum has also been greatly updated, with many new photos taken from a visit in October. |
| December 3rd | I've just uploaded three more shots to the Japanese Castles page: Iwamura-jō, Fushimi-jō and Kōriyama-jō. I also finished labeling all the castle photos dating from August and put in new pictures for Kubota-jō and Aoba-jō. |
| November 13th | Pictures from this August's Obon holiday have been uploaded. New galleries have been added to Tōhoku, Hokkaidō, Kantō and Chūbu: Niigata & Shibata, Tsuruoka, Osore-zan, Matsumae, Hachinohe, Yamagata & Yama-dera, Aizu-Wakamatsu & Kitakata, Shiroishi, Nihonmatsu & Shirakawa, Utsunomiya, and Kōfu. On top of these are some photos from Kawagoe in Saitama Prefecture, taken during a visit in September. |
| October 30th | Starting off the pictures from the August 2009 Obon vacation are a group of photos from four of Tōhoku's most famous festivals: Aomori's Nebuta Matsuri, Hirosaki's Neputa Matsuri, Goshogawara's Tachineputa Matsuri and Akita's Kantō Matsuri. More shots from across the rest of Tōhoku will follow later. |
| October 29th | After seemingly ages, the last of the pictures from my trip across Europe two years ago have been fixed and uploaded. The Russia shots have finally arrived: Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Veliky Novgorod, Kazan, Yekaterinburg, Tobolsk, Omsk, Novosibirsk, Irkutsk, Lake Baikal and Vladivostok. |
| July 30th | New pictures have been uploaded from a trip to Shōdo-shima last week, along with a few additions to the Okayama and Takamatsu galleries. After a long wait (courtesy of numerous other events occupying my time in the last couple months), the shots from the Arimatsu Shibori Matsuri have been put up as well. |
| June 16th | At last, the pictures from this year's Golden Week vacation have been uploaded. A new Shikoku gallery has been added to the Japan page, and individual photo galleries have been updated for Takamatsu, Kotohira & Zentsū-ji, Marugame, Imabari, Matsuyama, Ōzu & Uchiko, Uwajima & the Shimanto-gawa, Kōchi, the Iya Valley, and Tokushima & Naruto. In addition, pictures from the Arimatsu Shibori Matsuri, from the former post-town of Arimatsu (now in Nagoya's Midori Ward) will soon be posted online. |
| May 23rd | I've been bogged down with sorting through photos and many other things, but as a prelude to what's to come, new shots have been uploaded to the Japanese Castles page. Included among this upload are Tokushima, Takamatsu, Marugame, Imabari, Iyo-Matsuyama, Ōzu, Uwajima and Kōchi castles. The rest of the Shikoku pictures will be coming soon. |
| April 19th | Spring has arrived, and with it the cherry blossoms. March and April saw a few trips around central Japan, first off with a three-day jaunt to Northern Kansai and western Fukui Prefecture. Photos are now online from each stop, including Fukuchiyama, Kinosaki, Amanohashidate and Obama. At the start of the sakura season this month, I also did a day-trip out to the cities of Shizuoka and Odawara to visit their reconstructed castles. Finally, last week I spent a day out in Shiga Prefecture, making return visits to Nagahama and Hikone, then finishing at the temple complexes of Ishiyama-dera and Mii-dera in Ōtsu. Along with these destinations, I've also updated the Japanese Castles page. |
| March 5th | The remaining pictures from my visit back to the States for the holidays have now been uploaded: shots from a four-day trip down to New Orleans. And continuing where I left off at the end of last year, the remaining Romania photos are now online: Bucharest, Timişoara, Drobeta-Turnu Severin, Târgu Jiu, Craiova, Piteşti, Curtea de Argeş and Poienari, and Târgovişte. That leaves only the Russia pictures remaining from my Europe travels in 2007; hopefully I'll find the time to get them taken care of and uploaded in the coming weeks. |
| February 2nd | Back from a couple weeks' holiday in the U.S., I've uploaded shots from a number of locations in Oklahoma: Bartlesville, Pawhuska and the Tallgrass Prairie Preserve, Okmulgee, and Tahlequah. New shots have also been added to the Oklahoma City, Tulsa and Guthrie galleries. |

| December 12th | A big update this time and most likely the last one of 2008. All of the shots from Ukraine are now up - Kyiv, Lviv, Chernivtsi, Khotyn, Kamyanets-Podilsky, and Odesa - along with about half of the Romania photos: Târgu Mureş, Odorheiu Secuiesc, Miercurea Ciuc, Sfântu Gheorghe and Târgu Secuiesc in the Székelyföld, and Suceava, the Monasteries of Southern Bucovina, Botoşani and Iaşi from Moldavia. |
| November 13th | I spent a day out in Nagano-ken seeing the autumn colors in and around the old Nakasendo in Narai and Kiso-Fukushima about a week and a half back. Additionally, the photos from Moldova last year are now all up: Chişinău, Orheiul Vechi, Soroca and Tiraspol. |
| October 23rd | I've uploaded shots from last August's stop through Belarus, including Minsk, Brest and Hrodna (Grodno). | October 12th | Finally the Europe pictures get some attention again! All of the shots from Lithuania are online, including Vilnius, Trakai, Kaunas, Klaipėda, Nida and the Curonian Spit, and iauliai. |
| October 8th | Last week I spent a couple days back in Kansai (Ōsaka) again for a visit to Universal Studios and a concert. The second day was spent out in Akashi and Himeji in Hyōgo-ken, the pictures from which can be seen here. A few pictures have also been added to the Ōsaka page, along with a select few of Universal Studios. Akashi-jō has been added to the Japanese Castles page. |
| September 26th | After another pair of daytrips out around the vicinity, I've put up some pictures from Little World in Inuyama as well as Ōmi Hachiman and Azuchi in Shiga Prefecture. Azuchi-jō has also been added to the Japanese Castles page. |
| September 16th | Pictures from a daytrip last Sunday out to Uji and Nara have been put up. Additionally, I've uploaded photos from the Shan Shan Matsuri in Tottori and Jangara Matsuri in Hirado (all taken during this year's summer vacation) to the Japanese Festivals page. |
| September 11th | After some delay, I've finished putting up the rest of the pictures from summer vacation, a few shots added to Fukuoka, plus a number of new locations: Hagi, Yamaguchi & Hōfu, Shimonoseki, Karatsu, Hirado, Saga & Yoshinogari and Kitakyūshū. |
| September 2nd | Continuing with the pictures from Obon Vacation, I've uploaded shots from Iwakuni in Yamaguchi-ken, as well as photos from Tottori and several destinations in Shimane Prefecture: Matsue, the Adachi Art Museum, Izumo Taisha, Ōmori and Iwami Ginzan, and Tsuwano. The remaining pictures from the trip should go up in the next few days. |
| August 30th | The first of many: new pictures from Miyajima and Hiroshima have just been uploaded, with a number of the older, redundant ones from 2004 having been removed. |
| August 27th | As a sort of prelude to the upcoming Kyūshū and Chūgoku pictures, I've just put up a batch of new photos on the Japanese Castles page, specifically those of Tottori, Matsue, Tsuwano, Iwakuni, Hagi, Kokura, Nakatsu, Saga, Karatsu, Nagoya (Hizen Province) and Hirado castles, as well as Morioka Castle, which I somehow overlooked earlier. |
| August 3rd | Over the past few days, I've added last year's pictures from Latvia, including Rīga, Cēsis and Sigulda. |
| July 31st | I've uploaded a selection of pictures from numerous locations on nearby Chita Peninsula, south of Nagoya. |
| July 29th | Following the creation of a new gallery for Japanese Festivals, I've moved all of the older festival pics (Komaki, Inuyama, Hikone, Naha), as well as added new pictures from Ichinomiya's Tanabata Matsuri and some older shots from Nagoya's Hirokōji Matsuri and Nagoya Matsuri. |
| July 26th | After a weekend up in Japan's (rather foggy) mountains, I've just finished putting up pictures from the Tateyama-Kurobe Alpine Route, as well as the wasabi farm at Hotaka and new shots from Matsumoto. |
| July 18th | Continuing with the 2007 pictures from Europe, I've put up shots from Estonia and Finland: Tallinn, Tartu and Helsinki. |
| July 3rd | Polishing off the Serbia pictures, Belgrade and Novi Sad are now online. |
| June 29th | Returning to Europe after a couple months' downtime, I've finally put the remaining Macedonia pictures up, namely Skopje, Bitola and Ohrid. |
| June 19th | After a long delay thanks to computer problems, I've finally uploaded all the pictures from this year's Golden Week trip across Northern Honshu: Aomori, Hirosaki, Akita, Kakunodate, Morioka, Hiraizumi, Sendai and Matsushima. |
| April 27th | Breaking the order up slightly, I just finished putting up pictures from Kosovo (Pritina, Peja and Prizren) as well as Subotica in Serbia and Tetovo in Macedonia. Japan's Golden Week holiday starts in a few days, so any further updates will most likely be in a few weeks' time. |
| April 25th | I've polished up the Albania uploads with Gjirokastra ending the batch. Tirana went up a few days previous. |
| April 13th | I spent a couple (rather overcast and drizzly) days up in Fukui Prefecture last week, and have put up pictures from the trip here. |
| April 7th | Cherry blossom hunting again: after a daytrip out to the former ninja town of Iga in Mie Prefecture and surrounds, I've created a new gallery for Iga, Seki-juku and Kameyama and uploaded the day's pictures to it. |
| April 2nd | In the spirit of the Japanese spring, I went out to see the sakura in Okazaki and Inuyama, both of which have gone up, along with some recent pictures from in and around Nagoya |
| March 26th | I decided to make a return visit to the grand Shintō shrine at Ise today, taking in the nearby sacred site of Meoto-iwa along with it. In addition, I made a pit stop at the small city of Tsu to see what was left of its old castle, a picture of which is now on the Japanese Castles page |
