Sleet, wind, and rain as well as speeding and short following distances all took their toll in this incident. Somehow, no one was killed - though plenty were injured badly.

The semi was following a Chevy 2500 pulling a trailer too closely. When the 2500 lost control in the ice, the tractor had to veer wildly. It hit the 2500, another smaller truck, and then careened off the road and up onto the over pass. Between all the trucks involved, we estimate over 100 gallons of fuel were spilled, and about $220,000 in damage to vehicles and trailers and materials was done. This doesn't include the damage to the bridge overpass. It was 20 degrees out with mild sleet during the recovery.
