Shasta: Chapter 3: Snowboarding lower Avalanche Gulch

Did two climbs to between Spring Hill and 50/50 flat and snowboarded back down.
Climbing even partway up Shasta and snowboarding out is a blast. The people are much cooler than I find at any of the ski parks, and there are no ramp turds to avoid on the way down - just rocks and sloughs. Riding gullies is hella tiring and takes a lot more active focus, though.
Here's where I start going up. We're going to the lower hill on the right.

View back down from the hill. Notice all the runnels - this stuff is slushy

Met 4 summit parties who were blown off the mountain at Helen Lake or above. None got the summit, or looked happy about it.

Was warm and good just to sit in one place and soak up the scenery. The wind got stiff and cold maybe once an hour.

Look, I'm standing in front of a mountain.

I should probably buy an avalanche beacon one day. Not that it matters, since I'm boarding alone.
