Each lifeboat is brought in regularly to be serviced. Smaller repairs are made and a new coat of paint is applied. By doing it themselves, the Rescue Service saves a lot of money and ensures that work can be done to their standards and on their shedule. It is a non-profit organization, which depends on private donations- hence the government doesn't have a say in its matters.That means that staffing,stationing and equipment can be decided upon by need and are not dictated by politics or economics
