I took this series of photos on Friday, November 23, 2007 at the Grand Reopening of the Detroit Institute of Arts. After six years of renovation and expansion, this 122 year-old museum reopened with a marathon 32 hour celebration. Admission was free and it seemed like all of Detroit turned out. But finding our way around this magnificently reinvented building was a challenge for everyone. That's why you see so many people in these photos examining bright blue and white brochures. That was the map of galleries.
When you look through these photos, I think you'll understand why I titled this gallery as I did. To get the full effect, I encourage you to look at each photo in its original size.
