Pictures from the area of Schacht V of the former coal mining factory Lothringen in Bochum
Unlike other areas of the former factory, this has not been recultivated for another future purpose until now. So there are still a lot of ruins and rotten buildings to be seen. One reason, among others, may be, that it was the place of the 'Grubenholzimprägnieranlage' (what a difficult german word!). It means: a factory where they gave all the wood they needed in the coal mine a chemical treatment. Probably followed by a lot of contamination of the whole area.
