I also wanted to get to the base of South Harper Creek Falls, but this requires circling around the left side from the overlook and crossing the top of the waterfall. We headed back up the gully and took that side trail I mentioned previously which was now on our right side. Red blazes identified this was the correct trail which descended the ridge and met Harper Creek at a crossing. The waterfall pictured here is just up creek from the crossing. We didn't hang around long due to the rotten lighting conditions and we still had a long ways to go to get back to the vehicle.
