This section of the river isn't at Devil's Elbow yet, but if you go down the side trail to this area, look for another side trail to the right when you go around the fallen tree and another when you get to the point. Both of these merge down river a bit, then continue a short ways to the top of the slide at Devil's Elbow. In this picture, the river continues a short distance behind where I am, then cuts hard to my left to go around the rock point, then continues down. From here we headed back out to the Devil's Elbow Trail and continued to the sharp bend in the trail to the right. Our destination was actually the newly named Lichen Falls. Harry and I had been a few years ago via the river, but Bernie had come to the bend in the trail and descended to the river from there. So we went down that way, then came back up the river.
