This is the text of a sad but very sweet and beautiful German folk song for those of us who would like to mourn Bush's victory! You just have to hear it sung well somewhere. In the recording that I have, Brahms wrote the accompaniment as well as the second half of the melody. All the other songs in the collection were 100% authentic folk songs -- but the half of this one that Brahms wrote was just perfect.
