Jul 7: Slideshow?

Of all the things to dig up in a field. I dug this out of the ground whilst clearing a patch of nettles. An Aldis slide projector that probably dates back to the early fifties. I'd guess it's been used at least as late as the 70's as the electrical lead is of the newer blue, brown and green/yellow kind. I've no idea how long it's been buried. I guess the previous owners of our land were early digital converts as I've also found bits of an equally old enlarger out there. I think it's beyond repair...

Check the lens before you use it, you might find the odd spec of dirt...

Keep digging, there could be a whole Hasselblad system down there :)

I think our first projector was an Aldis similar to this one. I can't remember where it went. Probably not to Cornwall!

I got one of them, and in pristine condition.
I used for 6x6 slides.

What a find! And what a surprise! It's like fate stepped in and left you a calling card from the Twilight Zone in the yard... And bits of an enlarger, too? Who would have thought? "Someday, someone will dig this up, take a picture of it and it'll be seen all over the world..."

Looking at the thumbnail, I thought it was a mini cannon :)

It looks like a gun turret...

Blimey! My heart skipped a bit when I saw this! I actually inherited an Aldis like this from my Dad's firm, and even in the mid-seventies I struggled to find a replacement bulb for it. I'd be tempted to keep this for its aesthetic qualities, unless you think it's worth putting on ebay ;-)
