This is what LM bought me. I'd liked the idea using of a pocket watch for a while. I wanted one with a little bit of history. It had to be a mechanical movement. Quartz has no place here. I liked the watches with open face and arabic numbers typical of 'railroad watches'. Whilst you could argue that this is just a cheap Russian watch from the 80's, it's design is much older. Molnija have been making these since 1947, a close copy of a swiss made Cortebert watch made for the Turkish railways. The case design, the face, even the movement are from Cortebert. The numerals and hands are an Abraham-Louis Breguet design from 1783, and in the history of watchmaking, he was a bit of a dude. So, not rare or valuable, but ticking away and keeping surprisingly good time. Must be all that swiss heritage!

BTW the wooden stand was a gift from Dad, who's probably responsible for my interest in silly old timepieces.
