Jun 10: Puffing Devil

This is a replica of Richard Trevithick's 'Puffing Devil', the worlds first steam road locomotive. The original was first run in 1801, which puts it way before anything built by Karl Benz or Henry Ford. This replica, built in 2001 was making demonstration runs through Minions village as part of Phoenix 100. The centenary of the last Cornish beam engine which was installed in a mine near the village. It was a fun day, and the Puffing Devil the real highlight. It has to be seen to be believed, especially running on a public road amongst modern traffic. Yes, that's a public road it's on...
