At the Prince's Drawing School life class I learnt about drawing space, that in which the model and subject resides, and in semi darkness, as the winter sun went down in the afternoon. These wonderful lessons got me thinking. If I mainly see space with my eyes, how do bats perceive space using sound. And blind people also learn how to "visualise" their surroundings by the quality of sound. Perhaps therefore bats would make excellent art students as they would have a different way of mapping the space around the model. So, here is a world first: a bat student enrolled into a drawing class. Sound assisted drawing would also come in handy in the dark. You may note the bat has skillfully plotted audio contours to assist his creative process!
