St Francis lived above the city of Assisi in a refuge called
the hermitage. He slept in a cell on the ground...no bed. There
were others who also lived there and practiced the vow of poverty
etc. They said Mass in the open air at a simple brick enclosure in the woods
a few minutes walk from the hermitage. It is someplace that is very special.
