Singing for your supper
These baby swallows are still in a prefeathered stage...The mother and father both feed them, presumbably bugs. As soon as the parent appears, they autmatically open their mouths wide and cheep
for food. It looks like the sight or sound of the parent automatically flips this response. The flash triggered the same response.

These guys are much more recently hatched
than the first brood.

About 5 days old...they are in a mud
nest just beneath a beam of the tool shed.

not much room in that nest...there are five
babies. Their beaks kind of remind me of porpoises.
