- 7th Feb 2005 - Happy Birthday!

What did you do on your 16th birthday?
This is Helen's friend Lauren - both born on
the 7th Feb 1989! Last week Lauren had her
Appendix removed :)

The cake was from the nurses, and we all had
a good time....

Happy Birthday. When you get over this operation, and you will, this will be the happiest year of your life.

Hello! I am Lauren and i'm the poor bugger behind the cake!!!! Cake was great (i only just came off nil by mouth) but i didn't manage to keep much down! Helen, Ian and Lizzie enjoyed it though (PIGS!) I am still dying from my appendix op (evil complications) so any donations of cake through the post via Helen would be much appreciated! Ooops - only just seen this! Hope you had a great birthday Helen, and hope Lauren is feeling up to finishing that cake....

This is good Ian. You managed to capture the thoughtfulness that comes out in an illness, while still conveying the illness. I've been thinking about this a little bit since I have a hubby that needs both ankles operated on (I told hime that photographically I would prefer he get them both done at the same time and have 2 pink casts . .. haha) and just got a call from the college student daughter on the other side of the country who may need her tonsils out! Well anyway . . .the focus on the cake with the patient cleary visible in the background, and yet out of focus enough to make her a 'background', is a good idea. Hope she's well on the way to recovery. Cindy

That was really sweet of the nurses. And that cake is bound to heal anything. :)

The cake looks very sinister somehow, like it is moving in...
