My guess is that it's a Canada goose wearing a fake nose. :-) That's the opinion I formed when I saw two of them for the first time (in City Park in Denver yesterday evening). This goose seems somewhat more placid than the Canada geese, but it does move around with the Canadas just like one of the family. It was so suprising to see these geese there...they are very beautiful.

I saw a family of Canadian Geese in my backyard pond today with a Greylag leading up the rear...as if (he) and she were a couple.... that's one Canadian goose adult and one Greylag raising young.

I have seen these in City Park in Denver with the Canada geese, it does seem to order the others around, I really do wonder is this a variety of Canada or is it another species?

July 27, 2009.....I saw one of these today in Montague Michigan with about 45 other canadian geese......so what is the bird in the picture? It was kinda funny because this odd one was talking to the others and leading them around.

This goose has been seen among the canadian geese in the Denver Colorado city park. I thought it was rare for different species of ducks to associate with one another. The canadian geese seem to have accepted it without any noticeable discrimination. Will it also mate with a canadian geese? Creating a different species? It appears to be the only one of its kind with the canadian geese? It is a wonder to observe.
