You turn description into expression here by using the interplay of light and shadow to energize the statue and bring it to life. I love the way the light subtly flows over the robes of this angel, yet the trumpet, wings, arms, and much of the head remains in darkness. There is great tension rippling through the negative space between the wing tips and the edges of our frame, too.
