This is a lovely landscape, Mo -- made so by the layers and composition, and the play of light and shadow upon the earth. The foreground layer, with its twisting road rhythmically repeating itself, leads us into the image. The blue lake, the second layer, offers an array of colors created by the shadows of the clouds that pass overhead. The third layer is the opposite shore, a sweeping panorama of hills that are likewise mottled by both light and shadow. The final layer is made of clouds in a blue sky that add great beauty to the image. In landscape photography, there must be clouds if you include the sky, and you do just that here. If there are no clouds, you should limit the sky as much as possible.
