horse dressure, Vagabond Magazine

I took this picture with my Minolta 505si camera at the Pushkar Camel Fair in 2003. Although most of the trading is camels, also horses and other livestock get traded at this fair and owners want to show off their horses, horsemanship and their horse dressing. I was standing on the rafters, thus positioning myself above the crowd in order to be able to see anything at all and when the horse was on two legs, raising itself above the crowd, I took this picture.

It seems this noble beast had the better of the men around it and you rose to the occasion as well with a sublime shot.

Breathtaking - a giant seahorse rising from a sea of men -- the hand at its neck attempts to contain it, but futiley. Kudos - your eye has soul. carey adams

I've never seen this one before. It remarkable. This horse, rising out of that crowd, is like an ancient equine god. Very incongruous in that context, the horse is also abstracted by being mostly hidden. Seen from the shoulders up, with the foreground heads abstracted by vantage point and the background people abstracted by selective focus, it one of the most expressive images you have ever made.

Monique, this one is nothing short of remarkable; truly striking! I think your use of both visual and symbolic contrast makes for a stunning piece. Dave POTWIN
