COLPALCHI revisited

MAY 2007 - Colpalchi is one of my favorite routes, presenting mountains of mud and intense adrenaline rushes. However I've never sucessfully reached the end point, the San Juan River which borders with Nicaragua. Danilo and Puppy joined me on this trip and we got stuck just 1 mile from the river according to my GPS. After 6 hours of grueling, muddy work to get Baby unstuck, Danilo and I were getting nowhere fast. Thanks to five incredible indidivuals passing along the same isolated road, two on an ATV and three with horses, we didn't have to spend the night, sweaty, muddy and exhausted in the car with mosquitos and flys biting us constantly. It was a rush driving, pedal to the metal, mud flying in all directions, and three horses hauling Baby in reverse. Unforgettable!
