Like children's building blocks tipped out of an upturned box, the White Villages, Pueblos Blancos, sprawl across the lower slopes of the Sierra Nevada. As part of a negotiated home exchange, Barbara Joy and I enjoyed some weeks during March 2024, living in Frigiliana, on the slopes of the rugged Sierra Almijara hills. Frigiliana (population ca. 2000) lies barely one hour east of Malaga and just a few km uphill from bustling Nerja on the Costa del Sol.
