Canberra, the Australian national capital, exemplifies town planning on steroids. The entire metropolis seems to have been laid out for optimum visual impact, spilling around a scattering of forested hills. Eye-catching vistas stretch in every direction, and the two parliament house buildings, old and new, complement each other perfectly; beyond them and across the far side of the Lake stands the Australian War Memorial.
March 2017. A gathering of the family provided an impetus to make the long drive from Melbourne (740km or 400 miles) north again.
