Canon 70-200 f/2.8 Test

To test the sharpness of the Canon 70-200 f/2.8 IS lens at f/2.8 compared to f/4, I turned off IS, mounted it on a tripod with the Canon 1D Mk III, set it at mirror lockup and the self timer, and ripped off a couple of shots.

The first two are with all LightRoom sharpening turned off, 100% crops. The second two have been sharpened an equal amount.

To my eye they are very close, possibly the edge going to the f/2.8! But that doesn't make sense, so I'll just call it too close to call...
