This is the 6th of 15 sequential images of an occultation of Saturn by the Moon on Sep 10, 2001. In an occultation one object passes in front of the other, obscuring the farther object of the nearer object covers a greater angle. In this image Saturn is approaching the sun lit side of the Moon, and the very bright Moon is washing out the image of Saturn. Saturn can be seen to be passing behind the Moon now.
My Sony 505v was being used with eye piece projection from an 8" Meade LX-50.
