The smallest owl in Europe and Asia. It is only about 16 cm long and weighs about 60 grams. It's extremely rare here. It's been the first visit of this species in this country since 2006 and 1999.

Beautiful against the blue sky, and in terrific light. I wonder what will happen with them as spring approaches. V
