The smallest owl in Europe and Asia. It is only about 16 cm long and weighs about 60 grams. It's extremely rare here. It's been the first visit of this species in this country since 2006 and 1999.

This is a different owl than the previous ones from a another wood not far from home. My third find. I call it owl 3. Some people had reported calls from this wood. After 4 visits checking out areas close to woodpecker holes I suddenly saw it. It performed for a couple of hours, catching mice and hid them in woodpecker holes.
