paris wet alley

Bes viewed in Original{which click].This rolled-up rug was lying in a gutter of the Rue Picard not far from the hotel in a puddle. I'm told the Paris street cleaners use rugs somehow in their work, but I don't know how, or why it was lying there. It must have been there for quite a while, since there were green plants growing on it. This has some Photoshop work in it (a little sharpening, some selective area brightness) but the sepia-ish color is about the way it looked in the original pic - see paris wet alley-orig.jpg below in this gallery

One of my favorite photos. I love the little green ferns (you can see them growing incongruously out of the rug) and the clear reflection of the clouds in the puddle the rug is incongruously lying in. To me this pic is a little trompe d'oeil study in French incongruousness.
