Your pictures show amazing color and detail, making identification easy for us novice bird watchers. What a great reference site. I have never seen an Indigo Bunting; I love it's bold color. Thank you so much for posting your pictures.

Your pictures are beautiful & well presented to help identification. I have just become interested in "Bird Watching" and have built two feeders one painted red and the other green. I understand that birds are attracted mostly to green. My neighbors on both sides have had feeders for a long time and attract sparrows,quail, doves, and an occasional hawk. At the moment I'm seeing doves and sparrows. The invitation is out for all!! I have also built a "Bat House" and hope to offer residence to that group.

I have a bird feeder at my home in northern Massachusetts. I have a bird coming to my feeder and I am unable to identify it. Can you help me. It has a white chest with red under it's wings. It's wings and back are black. This is not a grosbeak, that much I know, although for the few seconds I had, I thought the beak to be that of a grosbeak.

Tom ~ absolutely gorgeous pictures, thank you for sharing them. I do not know if you can help me or not, I was walking with my two sons in a wooded area with a marsh and spotted a bird that I could have sworn was a pelican! Can you think of what it might have been? I have tried searching on google & all of your birds, but cannot locate it. I am 20 minutes south of Worcester MA on the CT border. to Patsy McGee a solid blue bird about the size of a gold finch is an indigo bunting my feeders are covered in the spring and summer
to gin snetzinger the bird u discribed in central ms if it was black with a white underside and red on the chest sounds like a rose breasted grosbeak

i live in va. there was a bird in my yard that is about 4 or 5 inches tall, has a long beek. looks like a 3 inch pencil. it goes back and forth 3 or 4 times before it takes its step.i just throught this bird was cool looking.just looked 2 YOUR PICS....might be a purple sandpiper

I have seen a blue bird that is solid blue. It is small about 4 or 5 inches. I have looked in my bird book(Birds of North American, Eastern Region, Smithsonian Handbooks) and can't find this one. I live in Philadelphia, MS in the county. A small community of Dixon. It comes to eat in the morning and evening. There have been six at one time. I like your pictures very much.I would like to know what kind it is. Thanks Patsy McGee

I seen some birds that was white and gray on the belly with a v tail. It was a little smaller than a hawk or maybe the same size. I have never seen them before They sounded like hawks. Could you help me. Thanks!

My son took a picture of a bird in his back yard (central Mississippi) that we don't recognize...about as large as a cardinal but the coloration was black/white with a bright red breast.

Also I saw a large solid orange bird about the size of a crow on a birdfeeder in northwest minnesota in June of last year.

Any ideas as to what these could have been?

Thank you for having a picture of the crablike orb weaving spiders - I have seen several in the past three years and found that the design in the web is specific to the spider, not the species. My guys tend to be more the yellow and black striped kind--
