I use an 85 and 135 for indoor sports because they allow very fast shutter speeds to stop action. Zooms -- even f/2.8 zooms -- are too slow for the indoor gyms I encounter. The 85/1.8 is a great lens for basketball, but sometimes I like an even closer crop (135L).

For the aperture, this would be an ideal lens for indoor sports. But I hesitate to use non-zooms because of the lack of flexibility with framing. What is your experience regarding this trade off? (I also am tempted by the 85mm 1.8 for hoops.)
