"This wolf was captured in the southern part of our park between Iliamna and Lake Clark. She was about 2 yrs old then, should be nearly 5 now. She ran with her pack with our collar on her for a year and a half. Last summer, she dispersed (went on walk about) south into Katmai, where her collar was reporting a mortality signal. When the Wildlife Biologist finally retrieved the collar, there was only the collar lying on the tundra. No sign of a dead wolf at all. It appears that she slipped her collar and is still running free."
