In-Flight

Florence, Alabama

This past weekend being the days before Sherri's birthday (which is today) we went to one one our favorite get-aways in Florence, Alabama. Near Wilson Dam, on the Tennessee River, there is one fine bird sanctuary area, and I was able to find herons and cormorants busy doing their things...
This guy did a "fly-by'...

A good pose and show the neck craned in well, while in flight.

Terry, right you are.. I had that thought while I cropped this shot.
Bob, yes, it does autofocus quite well with the 1.4. That is one consideration I had when buying the 300. I don't use the 1.4 all the time, as I find that I need all the speed I can get with the eagles, but for deer, and for the upcoming coyote, I have been really glad to have had it.

Classic pose, Michael. Aren't they something to behold? Looks
like something out of my paleontology textbook :)

You caught the perfect pose.

Question... does the 300mm autofocus with the Canon extender? My 400mm does not.

He looks like he is on a mission.
Happy birthday to Sherri!
