I have seen an aggressive boxer that bite my dad's hand when he was walking down the street. The other one that the people owned was friendly. I had a boxer cross from a shelter - shelter was awful and people were charged with neglect. This dog was crazy and nippy. He didn't have proper play when younger. Which can cause a dog to be nippy, but he wanted to play and needed to be worked with. I now am a proud owner of a white boxer. Sadly, many white boxer are put down at birth due to some health issues that can arise and off color that can't be shown. Boxers are normally big goofy. lovable dogs. My walker hound cross did go after a person's hand. He is usually fantastic, but if he senses me feeling off about a person, he may try to nip the hand. He doesn't show any signs of aggression with anything. He is my Houdini that gets out of everything. Everyone loves him, even the vets since he was in doggie jail twice. I did have a dog turn on the family - a rott/aussie. Both breeds are very high-strung and shouldn't be bred together. He should signs even when he was a real little pup growling over food. I thought was just a puppy play growl and vet told me that this is very common in aggressive dogs. Any breed can turn. There are many factors - breeding, abused, trained to be aggressive, and other factors. Dobies and bull terriers sometimes have pressure in their head due to the size of their brains to the size of the skull. With the person being terrified, I would call your local authorities or/and animal control to have a talk to these people. Dogs to me are like children and many people don't socialize their dogs properly. There are people that shouldn't have dogs because as owners, they should be more understanding and worried that their dogs could injury or kill a child. I introduce my hound to people differently than my boxer because I know he can be a bit more protective. If you look up top aggressive dogs, there are more smaller breeds than larger breeds on that list. Just remember to keep in mind when judging dogs, how are these animals being treated by their owners. When purchasing a dog, most shelters are great due to how they see how each dog interacts with people and other animals. If wanting a purebred pup, take a look at the lineage to see how closely bred the parents and kin are. There are many breeders that breed fathers and daughters and mothers and sons for the money. We know in many species that this can cause issues. Some will tell you that it is okay, but I would rather have a clean lineage without interbreeding. Remember to take a look at the whole picture not just the dog.

Correction: should read northern and southern hemispheres not east and west.
long haired vs. short haired

High pitched noises and quick movements are just a couple of trigger mechanisms that can revert a working dog to instinctive behavior. The police officers with K9 experience should know and confirm this. Why is that information being suppressed to the public and their fellow counterparts in the PEACE officer field??????? Who needs the money honey? How do you get your kicks? It is all "Dirty Laundry"

The American Veterinarian Association claims that there is NO methodical way into which we can define the breed of dog. Yet the so include ignorant in these posts feel they can. You are all experts to myth versus fact. That is evident.

We must learned to eliminate human emotion and racism from all future studies into the events such as this. A working dog is a dog that is quick to revert to instinctive behavior. Breeds include The German Sheppard, The Belgian Malinois, and the long haired herding breeds, etc. These are the descendants of the western hemisphere animal known as the wolf. The Bull and Mastiff Breeds are descendants of the eastern hemisphere animal known as the fathers to the Alant. Many factors are involved that may lead to trigger mechanisms. Trigger mechanisms can revert a working dog to instinctive behavior. We must pursue Full studies based on past, present and future studies, as well as the education of children and racially blind adults. There are profound adults that are currently teaching the importance of diet and the domesticated dog. Their incomplete studies have created a diet mimicking its WILD ancestor the wolf. A raw meat and bone diet containing large amounts of Red blood cells. They are correct in their studies in that it is a optimum diet for the dogs physical health. However it is a disaster not to consider or fully study this effects that this diet would have on their mental health or how it may quickly revert what was thought a domesticated working breed of dog into a wolf? Adults PLEASE remove your prejudices and ignorance. Can't you see how important this is. Whose mental state is creating this problem, the dogs or the people? By viewing this site i would have to honestly answer: All parties included in the pictures and the text. Sorry kids and dogs but they do not care for you. They are to busy worrying about their own interests.

These are clearly not Boxers..anyone that knows dog breeds at all see that. However; I say this not to say no Boxer can be aggressive,,Ive seen otherwise albeit rarely. The point is that these dogs were unstable thus capable of being triggered into deadly behavior. This is not neccasarily something that could be predicted however it is something that could very well be avoided. No dog regardless of breed or temperment should ever be left alone with children..period!

Listen everyone, I have a large four year old male boxer. He has never shown aggression once. Anyone who thinks a boxer would attack a chinld is mistaken and needs halp because the only way to make a boxer vicious is to give it no attention, train it wrong, or you abuse it. My boxer is wonderful with kids. Me and everyone else in my family have always had boxers growing up. My fathers first dog when he was born was a female boxer named Princess. My first dog was a male Boxer named Stetson. Boxers do not attack nor do they bite aggressively. Just because a dog has a scary look to it doesn't mean you blame it for being aggressive. Behind a boxers bulky body, short snout, and wide head is the biggest baby you could ever have. My boxer has a stub for a tail and I could be outside for a minute then come inside and he would be wagging his butt from excitement. I can honestly say boxers don't have a bad natures unless you get them from a pet shop or a bad breeder. I would trust my dog with my life if I had to because I beleive in him. But you can think I'm stupid for the fact I'm a twelve year old kid backing up the breed of dog I have always had and I'm experienced with. I am just sorry you thought boxers were such vicious dogs. I'm not saying my dog couldn't snap one day and attack I'm just saying unless he gets rabies, (which he has a rabies shot) he will always be the same gentle dog, it's not like we abuse him. We all treat him like a baby in my house.

In response to am I sure they are boxers. Yes absolutely possitive! they are also store bought pure breads. They are both males and are not nuetered. they fight with one another as well. I have been around all breeds of dogs and have had a family member own a boxer. It was a great dog. but these two are far from being great. I blame the owner. they are not resposible pet owners.

I have just read all of these comments and i'm shocked that some people can be so ignorant. It does not matter if a dog has an agressive nature or not you can never be to sure when it comes to your children or other peoples children. I am so sick of hearing "my dog is soooooo gentle, he would never bite anyone". I have owned two different large dogs. They were not mean, I loved them and they were very gentle BUT, i never told anyone that they would'nt bite (even though they never had) and i never left children alone with them. Yes MAYBE in some circumstances a trustworthy family pet that has never shown any aggression and that was raised with the child could be left alone with the child....but you can never know for sure, and when it comes to children why would u chance it? This to Totally terrified - If i were u i would definately figure out a way to get rid of the dogs next door or move. As for causing problems with your neighbors. If i were you and i felt that my childs life was in danger and my neighbors were not concerned or especially if they said what yours did, i would do more than cause problems, and those dogs would have been dead a long time ago. I hate that you were put in that position. I understand how hard it is to find the "right" house as we are looking for one now. I couldnt imagine moving in and realizing that there were two vicious monsters next door. I hope everything works out ok. This to everyone else, I am not against dogs....actually i am an animal lover. Think of it this way, if you love dogs you have more than likely said "they have feelings just like people do" well if thats the case then what if they can have mental disorders just like us too? What if one day your dog is fine and then they develope something and turn all scitzo and the doggie voices tell them to attack the child? You cant know for sure why dogs attack so you cant rule this out. And one more thing....im sure that Totally Terrified does not give a $#@! what kind of dogs are next door. Im sure that even if she was mistaken about the breed of the dog, that is more than likely not her main concern.

Dear mrs. profitt,

It's really shocking dat your neighbours are such ********. I would clearly advise you to go to the p.c in the city and show them the whole videos. ask them to provide your family with pepper sprays and keep huge steel pokers and slim long swords handy. These will help to protect your lil' ones from those damned boxers.
WOW 23-Aug-2009 03:15
Cathy. Wow. I'm sorry that you've been bit...but I would think that someone who has had your experience wouldn't dare have a dog that would "promptly kill" another dog. If a dog is capable of killing a dog...it's capable of biting you or someone else. So don't judge people who have aggressive dogs when you clearly have one too. The owners of the dogs that bit you were irresponsible but you obviously have a dog that has the potential to bit which is irresponsible of you. I also believe that dogs can sense certain things about a person's personality and character...4 bites is a lot...maybe they sensed a hypocritical, irresponsible person with a short temper.
Cathy 04-Aug-2009 20:55
I've been bitten by four different dogs. My mom's old Maltese, crabby thing. The witch across the street has two dogs, both of who have bit me. One was a heeler, and the other some ugly black thing, not a lab.

The fourth dog was by far the worse, and I ended up in the hospital It was a damn boxer who jumped his fence while I was checking my mail. That's all I did, check my mail. Damn dog repeatedly bit my leg, numerous times. It ended up in the pound and the owners had to pay $400.00 to get it out and lo and behold my teenage son and another teenager were walking down the road a few weeks later and again that damn boxer jumped the fence. But, this time, he got the living hell beat out of himby two big teenage boys. So, you people who say boxers don't bite, I'll send you my hospital statement. My ONLY regret is not knowing there was a new dog on the street. It was brought home while I was on vacation. If I would have known, I would have taken my German Shepherd who would have promptly killed the **&^ damn dog. I'm not saying all boxers are bad, but you who act like boxers don't bite are lying through your damn teeth. Call and ask my local hospital.

My mother's dog died of old age. The other three dogs that bit me were eventually given away due to their damn agression WHICH the owners tried their best to deny until the dog BIT THEM. ha! And anyone who would leave a child with any dog is nuts, hell, even a pomeranian killed a child in its crib. Google it.

I am trying to understand why there is even an argument about boxers? The dogs responsible for this terrible tragedy are clearly pits or minimum pit mixes. Anyone who knows anything about dogs should be able to see that. It is a huge responsibility to own a dog but most certainly the ownership of a pit bull. People should understand prey drive, breed tendencies, and how to be in control of such a breed. I personally have had a bullmastiff, and currently a boxer and they are some of the sweetest dogs I have ever known. However, if you walk by my fence you might not think so which is there intent. What you cannot see if my dog barking, running back and forth and wagging her tail in hopes the stranger will play with her. None the less, despite the earned trust I would NEVER leave my son unattended with any dog, I dont care how great they are. Personally, I dont feel children should be left unattended anyway! If you raise a dog to play fight or encourage the development of their existing prey drive they will go after anything smaller then them and that definately includes children. Dogs need to be strongly disciplined (without violence) and loved and the pet owner needs to be able to take responsibility for whatever actions their dog is responsible for...hopefully that increases the training efforts.

So what if those dogs are mutts?
I've never met a mean Pit Bull, and I've worked in an animal shelter for 10 years, with 80% of the dogs in there being pits.
Labs were the worst.
and the brown and white one, isnt even a pit.
look at it.
its clearly a pointer mix with a shorthaired pointer of some sort.
the other is a pit/am staff mix.
Guest 15-Jul-2008 20:51
Those dogs in the pictures are not boxers. It makes me mad to think that people misunderstand this breed cause they are actually one of the best family dogs. I have never personally seen a boxer that is aggressive. They are however a breed that requires a lot of attention.
ellie 03-Jun-2008 15:27
I have a boxer his name is jake and he is the most gentle but protective dog but he hates strangers and other dogs but thats his only problem I can leave him with a 1 year old baby and trust him.those dogs in the pictures are mungrells not gentle giants (boxers)

I dont care what ignorant owners say about their own dogs. I despise the comment, " Oh they won't bite." I was at a lake with my four kids, a girl decided to swim with her black pitbull, she asked my kids if the yellow bobber for fishing was theirs, my seven year old said yes. Her black pitbull charged my daughter I charged the pitbull. The pitbull ran from me. Her dog later bit another person that the owner was traveling with. Another encounter I had was me and my wife were walking I took my pepper spray because there is a boxer who has been breaking a wooden fence, The owners of the boxer have put tire rims to prevent te dog from getting out. Strange thing happened as we were on our way back home. The boxer charged at the fence, lowe and behold another vicious mutt came out of the alley. The dog was fast and low. I sprayed it with a strong pepper spray you can purchase through police magazines. I sprayed the dog a second time and he began to turn in circles and ran back down the alley. When my wife was ten years old she was pinned down and bit by a St. Bernard. Point is that all animals can be dangerous, they are animals. People are worse and I feel for you Mrs. Proffit. Buy pepper spray or an electric energy device.Check local laws and ask the what ifs and call the police and be a pain, request a report!! Your children are more impotant than an animal.

Totally Terrified- Get a dog yourself, something inherently protective of children. A 200 pound Newfoundland or Great Pyrenees would do the trick. Perhaps look into a pitbull, which are fiercly protective of their family's children. I currently have a Boxer and he would never hurt a soul. Are you sure your neighbor's dogs are boxers because before owning one I had no idea how often people misidentify them. However, the dogs in this picture that killed that child are not Boxers, which illustrates the point in my previous sentence. They may be mixed, but they are not Boxers. The one on the left is no doubt a Pit Bull or American Bulldog mix. As for the other, it's a complete mutt too.
Jessica 22-Oct-2007 18:39
Totally Terrified - Boxers are not aggressive dogs by nature. Improper training, or a lack of training would be the cause of your neighbors Boxers acting in that manner. Please do not judge all boxers by the aggression of the two next door. Boxer a as a breed are great with children. I own 2, and they are the most gentle dogs I have ever know. I would not poison your neighbors dogs, as that is illegal and you could get into serious trouble for it, seeing how your neighbors are totally irresponsible pet owner, you might consider contacting your local ASPAC, or animal control and letting them know the situation and ask then to check into it. There really isn't much you can legally do other then keeping a close eye on your children, and making sure your children know what to do if god forbid those dogs ever get over or threw that fence. You should keep pepper spray or mace on you while you are out there, if you spray this in the dogs face it will deter them if only for enough time for you to get into your house. I believe these dogs are not to blame for their actions. it is the owners fault. if these dogs are damaging your fence, their owners are responsible to replace anything that is damaged by their dogs. Good luck and I truly hope those owner get their dogs under control and that nothing happens to your little one.

We currently live next door to two male boxer dogs who everyday growl and charge my fence trying to get to my 2 and 6 year old children. I have vidiotaped them and just today they dug 5 huge holes under my fence trying to get to my babies. we've spoken to our neighbors and they say with a smurk,( We know they dont like small children, so you need to watch your kids!),I am so frightened that I can hardly stand it, my husband doesn't want to cause any problems with our not so nice neighbors and says to just keep an eye on our children and dont let go near that side of our fence. Problem is thats where thier play center is.we are moving it this weekend, but that still doesn't solve my problem. I have contacted our local authorities without my husband knowing and have come up with no help or answers. these dogs have pulled down panels of our privacy fence, they charge the fence and have caused our posts to come loose, we have only lived here for a little over two years, and we dont know what to do. We bought the house to have a wonderful safe place to raise our children, and didnt know that they would never be safe in their own back yard. I cannot leave them to answer the phone, use the washroom, see who's here, nothing, ever!We have a 5 ft privacy fence around the entire back yard, but the dogs are now digging trying to get in.I don't know what to do, I can not possibly be right there at all times, what mother can? In your own back yard? I can not make lunch or get someone a drink, or take one in to potty, I am at a loss.
