#062 Business Trip

I had to drive from Edinburgh to Newcastle today
on business. I always find it incredible that the Scottish capital
has no motorway link to England, but today I was actually thankful
as I got to drive through mile after mile of incredible snowy scenery.

This photo doesnt do it justice, its just a snap from behind the wheel.

It was quite frustrating not having time to stop and do
some "proper" photos. I must have driven past 1000 great opportunities !

brilliant scene, great picture, must have been tempting to stop and miss the meeting

Wow! If I remember right this road is littered with those yellow boxes - no problem on this trip though!

I hope your tyres had plenty of grip! Looks wonderful, I've never really experienced anything like that myself.

Great, I am really looking forward to getting home from Tucson on Sunday........

the speed cameras won't spot you in this either, not that you could go that fast!

It's even more amazing that there is no continuous motorway connecting Scotland's two major cities!

Hey - get back on the right side of the road! . . . oh yeah - you guys are lefties ;)
This image does convey the feeling of the day regardless of the time you spent shooting it. Looks lonely - which is good in conditions like this - too many people on the road and there's bound to be trouble. Cindy

Do indeed know the feeling of all those shots not taken due to lack of time!

Oh how I know that feeling John, probably safer not to stop in this stuff, looks mighty slick to me. This is pretty good actually, love the perspective.

Could have taken the A1!

This is amazing--as though you are in the twilight zone. Beautiful!!!

This is lovely John. I prefer the lesser roads to motorways, you see things as good as this.

The east coast of England seems to have been hit quite hard with the snow.

Beautiful image anyway.

Beautiful image.
I wish we would get a bit of 'real' snow.
Guest 03-Mar-2005 21:51
This is such a beautiful picture.
Guest 03-Mar-2005 21:49
All the snowiness... I've just about resigned myself to no snow for another year! The road leading into the distance really makes the shot!

Very, very beautiful. I like traveling!
Guest 03-Mar-2005 21:06
I can understand what you felt !
I love those winter sceneries as much as driving on such roads (not kidding !)
Cheers.
Nicolas.

Well done! I like the perspective and composition, and it definitely gives one a feel for the type of day it was.

I love the fading landscape going to infinity. I don't envey your weather.

John, this may have been taken from behind the wheel but it's not 'just a snap'. The perspective of the road leading into the distance is excellent and you've captured the snowy conditions very well.
