First they are not welders gloves, they are raptor made gloves. Most of the time we as the bander wear light gloves ,but when you hand a person a raptor that has never held one you don't want them to get hurt.
With all the young ospreys we have banded we have never been footed. Not to say it can not happen, but like all young birds they do not have good use of their feet yet. They would rather bite you.
We did strighten out the wing before the next part of the banding went forward.

Never hold a raptor in this manner unless you wish someone else or yourself to get footed!! Absolutely ridiculous to post a picture like this! Also, get rid of the welders gloves. Use bare hands and simply keep good control of the legs.
